How does Spravato Work?

If you’ve struggled with depression and have tried two or more antidepressants without adequate relief, then Spravato may be the right choice for you. Give our office a call for an appointment to learn more about this new treatment for depression.

What does Spravato treat?

Spravato is a medication used along with an antidepressant for treatment resistant depression in adults. It is administered via a nasal spray twice a week for the first four weeks. It is then taken once a week or once every two weeks. Treatment must be administered at one of our mental health clinics.

Is Spravato covered by Insurance?

Spravato targets the NMDA receptors in the brain and is believed to work differently than currently available oral antidepressants.

While every insurance carrier is different, we can assist you with getting Spravato approved, and there may be out of pocket costs associated with your treatment.

What are the side effects of Spravato?

Side effects may include increased blood pressure, problems with thinking clearly, bladder problems, sedation, suicidal thoughts, and dissociation.
