On July 25th, 2023 Joe Biden delivered remarks on his plan to expand access to mental health care. President Biden opens by reminding us that we are in the midst of a mental health crisis. He was quick to point out that currently, over 50% of people who seek mental health care still do not receive treatment. Treatment is not widely available, or affordable, enough still. Biden believes that mental health care is just as important as physical care. Thanks to his efforts, new laws are now in place that will require insurance companies to report gaps in their mental health coverage.

In his remarks, Biden also speaks on the Mental Health Parity Act of 2008, the crisis hotline (9-8-8) and government funded Certified Community Behavioral Clinics.
We hope that these required changes to coverage will have a rippling effect that will improve access to care.
